PART 3: Music Promotions & Promotion SCAMS!!!

In this episode I provide information on so called promotional companies who are way over-priced for the results they provide and can not prove any of there claims! In addition to that I give some cost effective tips on how to maximize your money and exposure!

In choosing a promotional company to promote your record or anything else do some research on them do not take what they say as face value! If they claim to have this gigantic email list then ask them to prove it. Touch base with some of there previous clients and most important of all look how many people have downloaded songs from previous email blasts and then decided if the price they are asking is worth it! It doesn't matter how many people are on there email distribution list if the people on the list are not opening and reading the emails!

www.tjsjdjs.com - Post your song in the community forum, it is highly active by DJ's around the world. Also take advantage of the record pool listing on this website and service your record to DJ's yourself. You always save money when you DO IT YOURSELF!

www.recordxpress.net - The world's largest record label directory! Every A&R to the executives to there assistants are listed and it is live which means when a change takes place it is updated right away!

MP3 Blogs - Google MP3 music blogs and contact the people who run the blog and get them your music to post in there blog. This will cut a lot of work in half for you!

Hip Hop Forums - Google the words "Hip Hop Forums"! They are all over the net, sign up and post your music in the forums, again this will spread your music all over the internet and cut your work in half!

IF YOU HAVE SOME KIND OF BUDGET:

MySpace - Now offers a an ad program that is reasonable priced and we already know the traffic that is generated on MySpace. Just think you can have your image/flyer ad pop up all over MySpace worldwide for as a cheap as .25 cents a click!

YouTube - Offers featured/promoted videos where you can pay to have your video show up in more places becoming more visible, it is worth checking out if you have a professional looking music video to release.

www.worldstarhiphop.com - The price maybe a little steep for some but $200 to have you video featured on World Star is well worth the money due to the amount of traffic that site gets. There have been cases where artists get 500,000 to 1,000,000 views in one day there on there video!
